Hidden in plain sight
I preached a message this past week titled hidden in plain sight. The message started with a quote from a Russian Orthodox Saint; Bishop Ignaty. It went something like this.
“Father, why are you sad?” a pupil asked the elder. People have forgotten how to see truth,he replied.Three times I showed the three of you white clothes with a dirty stain; and I asked, what do you see? A dirty stain said everyone of you. And no one thought to answer, “a white gown.”
Isn’t it all too often true that we see the bad before we ever see the good. Hidden in plain sight every day of your life, there are miracles, opportunities, and passion for ministry. Often the problem is what we see when we look in the mirror. What do you see in yourself?
Jeremiah saw a kid with no experience; God saw a prophet. Goliath saw a helpless kid; God saw a mighty king.
Moses was born under a decree of death. His mother saw a goodly child. What Egypt called a plague: God called a deliverer.
Your destiny is not dictated by what others see, or even what you see. Hidden somewhere inside of you, God sees something more than what you have been told.
While Christ was hanging on the cross people around saw many different things. I saw the healer of my soul. When I look in the mirror today I still see a man with faults. In my case, as well as yours, it is not so important what I see, but what God sees.
God is ready to heal so your life can impact your world.
