It’s about doing, not just saying!
An early church father left us with a very insightful saying. “Preach the Gospel at all times; using words when necessary.”
This is reference to the life we live, not the life we say we live. If there Is one thing I have learned from the last two generations is they are not interested in talk. They are interested in doing.
I recently read the parable of the father and his two sons found in Matthew the 21st chapter. Let me share the passages from the message Bible.
Matthew 21:28-31 Message
“Tell me what you think of this story: A man had two sons. He went up to the first and said, ‘Son, go out for the day and work in the vineyard.’
“The son answered, ‘I don’t want to.’ Later on he thought better of it and went.
“The father gave the same command to the second son. He answered, ‘Sure, glad to.’ But he never went. “Which of the two sons did what the father asked?” They said, “The first.”
Let me simplify this passage from the MRV. That is Marvin’s revised version.
God is more interested in those who repent and follow Him in obedience, than He is in those who say they will follow Him but do not.
Being a Christian is all about Christ and never about us. It is about service and commitment. It is about loving and grace.
It is about doing and not just saying.
