Power to Dream and Power to Succeed

Written By: mdn on March 10, 2010 No Comment

I ran across a scripture that I hadn’t thought of in a while.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

New Living Translation

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

I believe that at times we forget how powerful a relationship within the body of Christ can be. Having a prayer partner, a friend or confidant can be very important in our walk with Christ and our ability to reach our dreams and our goals.

It requires trust and love to move forward with someone and to help each other reach the destiny that God has designed for us.

Of course I believe that God hears my prayers, and He hears them whether I am by myself or not. Yet we must consider the power that manifests itself when two like minded individuals petition God on behalf of one another or for a common goal.

Matthew 18:19 KJV

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Message

When two of you get together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in heaven goes into action.

I have to say WOW again. What a great way to put God into action. Two people with a common prayer to see Him move, heal, deliver, bless, whatever.

It is all about the power of two or more. The power to move God into action.

There is, and always has been , something amazing about unity.

In fact the writer of Ecclesiastes spent a little more time declaring the benefits of two or more.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 KJV

And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

I really love the message.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 Message

By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.

By yourself it is a hard battle, with a friend you can face what the enemy throws at you, and if you can get a third to stand with you the bond of unity will stand almost anything.

In days when we are looking to excel in our Christian lives or in our ministries we must not ignore the power of two or more to help us reach the goals and share the ups and downs of our walk towards destiny.

Even in the OT the power of standing together was evident.

The Children of Israel were in a fierce battle and they were winning as long as Moses could hold his arms in the air. The problem was he was getting tired as the battle tarried long.

Then something happened that is far too absent from the ministry today.

We find it in the book of Exodus.

Exodus 17:12 KJV

But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

The story goes on to say that because of this Joshua led the people in victory.

There are times your pastor, youth leader, teacher, mentor gets tired. Hold them up in prayer. Joined together in unity so that God will move into action and do great things in your midst.

Never forget that He dwells in the midst of unity.

Matthew 18:20 KJV

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Message

And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.”

There is power in just a few. The power to dream, and the power to succeed.
