Leadership requires skilled servant work
I believe that the qualities of leadership are revealed to us in God’s word and through prayer. They can vary in individual ministries but the core values are the same.
Honesty, accountability, love, forgiveness. Not the least of leadership qualities is the ability to serve while leading people in the unity of the faith.
One of these days I will do a post on my take of the division in the church but I will save it for later. Today it is all about the ability to lead people into unity with each other and with Christ.
Paul wrote these words to the church at Ephesus.
Ephesians 4:11-13 Message
He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.
I bolded some of the qualities that a leader must teach people with the skills that God has given them and the passion that He shares with His church.
Teaching as a servant to the body of Christ and transferring to them the passion for each other that Christ has for us all.
Leading the body into rhythm. Helping them become efficient, and alive in Christ.
All these things require grace, love, and humility. They will ultimately teach us as leaders one very important thing.
It is not about us. It is all about Him!

There is no personal satisfaction in doing nothing
